UPS Tower Cologne/Bonn

UPS TowerUPS Tower at the airport Cologne/Bonn

Since 2005, the fresh air supply tower of terminal 1 is the most striking advertising space on your way to the airport building. This over-arching tower with a height of 34 meters shows the branding of UPS. In October 2011 we received from Ogilvy & Mather New York the new layout for the current branding. For the total work, after release of the scaffolding and to its dismantling, 6 weeks were planned. Surely we all will remember of 2011 as a year it has rained from June to the end of the year. However, that´s not true. The god of weather has placed a precisely dimensioned rain  break. It began exactly on the date of completion of the scaffold and ended with the dismantling of the scaffold.

The surface of the five tower sites is an area of approximately 1,300 sqm. This area had to be machined, for the cating of epoxy resin and acrylate copolymer. By coating the surfaces, they were neutral in color and the uneveness were balanced. Now the five sites received their colors. The five logos and hearts were made of 3 mm plates of Aludibond and placed on the appropriate tower sites. The last step was, applied by means of negative plotts, painting the white lines of the texts.
